Achill Island was reputedly very scenic so we headed out along the Corraun Peninsula stopping at points of interest like this: Kildownet Church ruin. It was named after a 7th century Irish saint. A church existed here in the 1500s, built by Grace O'Malley but these ruins are more likely from the church rebuilt here in the 1700s.
